Parse Error

Cause of Parse error

There are several reasons which may result a Parse error in Android. The most common causes are:

  1. The APK file of the app or game you are trying to install is corrupted.
  2. Your OS does not grant installation of apps from unknown sources.
  3. The APK file is incompatible with your device or android version.
  4. Your security app might be interfering with the installation process.

Fixing the Parse error

Follow these steps to fix the Parse error in Android:

  1. Check if your Android version is compatible with the app or game:

Find out the required Android OS version for the APK file. Then check if it matches with the one running your device. If not then you must find a version of the APK file which is compatible with your current Android version. Also find out whether an upgrade of OS is possible for your device. Apps designed for newer devices often do not work under older Android versions.

  2. Re-download the APK file form a different source:

Parse error is most likely to occur due to a corrupted APK file. Perhaps the APK you are using is incomplete or corrupted. Download another copy form a different source and try again. Also, note that renaming the APK file may cause problems too. So don’t rename the APK file once downloaded.

  3. Enable installing form unknown sources:

Generally Android OS automatically discourages installation of apps from other sources than Google Play. So you should enable installing apps directly from APK files. In your device, go to Settings > Security. Scroll down and check mark the Unknown sources checkbox. Now try to install the APK again.

  4. Disable antivirus or cleaning apps:

Disable or uninstall your antivirus and cleaning apps before installing the APK. Many security programs may prevent certain apps from being installed. So check if that is the issue.

  5. Try to install the app from Google Play:

The APK file you are trying to install might also be available in Google Play. So if possible, install the app or game from there.
